What is Rep Hockey?
Rep hockey, also known as competitive hockey, is for players looking for a higher level of development and competition. Teams are selected through tryouts, and players are placed based on skill, effort, and coach evaluation.
Rep hockey focuses on performance, development, and team success. Ice time, positions, and opportunities are earned rather than shared equally.

Time Commitment & Expectations
Practices & Development:
Minimum of 2 on-ice practices each week
Additional practices, skills sessions, and dryland training may be added
Attendance is expected at all team activities
Early morning ice times are common
Games:
Typically 1 to 2 games per week
Includes home and away games
Travel may include the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and occasionally the United States
Rep hockey requires a consistent and reliable commitment from both players and families.

Competitive Environment
Rep hockey is a performance-based environment.
Ice time is not equal and depends on effort, attitude, and game situations.
Coaches make decisions based on what is best for the team.
Players are expected to compete, work hard, and be coachable.
This environment helps players grow through accountability, discipline, and teamwork.

Tournaments
Teams will attend approximately 3 to 4 tournaments during the season.
Some tournaments may involve travel and hotel stays.
Tournaments are an important part of the rep experience, offering stronger competition and team bonding opportunities.

Affiliate Players
Players may be identified as affiliate players (APs) for a higher-level rep team. This provides an opportunity to be called up when needed.
Being named an affiliate player does not guarantee participation in practices or games with the higher-level team. Decisions on if and when an affiliate player is used are made at the discretion of the higher-level team’s coaching staff.
