About NDMHA
The North Delta Minor Hockey Association is a community-based Society providing recreational and competitive hockey programs for children in North Delta. Our aim is to promote the enjoyment and satisfaction of hockey for all participants and volunteers. This is done through the development of hockey skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, character, and friendship. We are committed to building confidence and self-esteem in our participants while promoting the values of honesty, integrity, dignity, and respect—both on and off the ice.
Role Summary
NDMHA is seeking a passionate and organized Executive Director to support our mission of providing quality recreational and competitive hockey programs that foster skill development, teamwork, fair play, and personal growth in a respectful and inclusive environment. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director plays a critical role in supporting day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational and Administrative Leadership
● Manage daily administrative functions in collaboration with the Board of Directors and volunteers.
● Serve as the primary point of contact for league officials, community partners, families, and volunteers.
● Support scheduling, ice bookings, and seasonal programming.
● Oversee internal and external communications including email, website, and social media.
● Track key deadlines, document, and coordinate financial oversight with the Treasurer.
● Support risk management and Safe Sport compliance in collaboration with board leads.
Liaison & Representation
● Represent NDMHA at City of Delta user group meetings and community events.
● Liaise with PCAHA, BC Hockey, and Hockey Canada on compliance, registration, and issues management.
● Attend PCAHA and BC Hockey meetings and AGM’s.
Volunteer & Event Support
● Support Parent Auxiliary with event logistics (e.g., Team Photos, Awards Night, Giants Night, Equipment Sale, Cancer Night).
● Assist VP roles, Risk Manager, Secretary, and Equipment Manager with operational needs.
● Coordinate community events such as the Alumni Game, Grad Skate, Aging Out Night, and Hockey One Wind-Up.
Communication, Promotion, & Media
● Collaborate on social media content, graphic design, and promotional campaigns.
● Maintain and update visual displays, awards, and legacy cabinets.
● Support media partnerships and community storytelling initiatives.
Community Engagement & Member Relations
● Provide discreet support for player and family concerns, complaints, and special circumstances.
● Support families during personal hardships (e.g., bereavement outreach).
● Assist with job reference letters, employment networking, and scholarship presentations.
● Attend community fundraisers.
Qualifications
● Experience in nonprofit, sport, or community program management.
● Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a flexible, evolving environment.
● Familiarity with board governance and volunteer-led organizations.
● Proficiency with digital tools (email, spreadsheets, online forms, scheduling software, social media).
Assets (Not Required)
● Experience in youth sports administration.
● Knowledge of Hockey Canada, BC Hockey, and PCAHA Systems.
● Understanding of Safe Sport policies and risk management.
● Experience in sponsorship, grant writing, or fundraising.
Work Expectations
This is a flexible, part-time role that averages approximately 10–15 hours per week, with seasonal fluctuations and occasional evening or weekend duties. Candidates should expect ongoing communication with board members, coaches, and parents via phone, text, and email.
