Dear Membership and Coaches,

I am very honoured and excited to have the opportunity to be involved as the Coach Coordinator for this coming term, the 2010 / 2011 season.

After analyzing and identifying our association’s strengths and weaknesses, we have comprised a development plan which consists of aspirations, goals, initiatives, and strategies that will lead us in the direction of success. This coming season, in addition to player development, our main priorities are the support and development of our coaches, from grass roots all the way up. Our Coach Mentorship program will also play an integral role in fostering the development and education of our players and coaches.

Coaches will attend and be certified for Specialty Clinics administered by BC Hockey (held in Delta ), in addition to being certified for the appropriate level they are coaching. Many other resources and seminars will also be available (some of which will be mandatory).

This coming season, North Delta Minor Hockey has implemented a new system to allow us to move in the right direction of coaching excellence. ALL coaches, including support coaching staff at both the recreation and rep level will be required to attend an interview/ meeting with our coach selection committee. In addition, all team staff will have to complete a mandatory Criminal Record Check to ensure safety of all our children and young adults.

I am very optimistic about the development initiatives and programs, and am looking forward to an excellent season ahead.

We believe that together, by supporting our coaches, and fostering on-ice development, we can make a positive difference while promoting athletic excellence, and grooming our communities up and coming stars of tomorrow.

Rep Coach Selection Currently Underway

Our Coach Selection Committee is currently working hard to interview ALL our rep coach applicants, in addition to their support staff. Should you desire consideration of coaching positions at the recreation or rep level, please ensure your applications are in no later than Friday, July 16, 2010.

Interviews for recreation coaches will commence the week of July 19, 2010.

Coach Certification

ALL NDMHA Coaches must complete their Hockey Canada Certification clinic(s) by December 1, 2010.

Coaches who have taken a course last season, and did not submit their post task for assesment, will have to re-do the course at their own expense. Failure to complete the appropriate course WILL result in suspension for the remainder of the season (from the submission date forward). 

Requirements:

All Coaches must have Speak Out, or Respect in Sport.
