North Delta Minor Hockey Association would like to congratulate Alex Lucchesi, Matt Mackenzie, and Dakoda Miller for their invites to various BC Hockey Provincial Championships. These three officials also began taking their first steps into the Elite Minor Hockey program, working the CSSHL throughout the year. A special shout out to Alex and Dakoda for joining a very small list of officials who have ever been selected to work both the CSSHL and Provincial Championships as Level 1 officials. Pee Wee A2 Final Team Event

PeeWee A2 held their final team meal today. One line of players cooked French toast and sausages for the rest of the team, and were visited by eight members of the Delta Police Department, six Officers and two canine units. The DPD talked to the team about what lay ahead with high school on the horizon, including a great discussion on drugs, alcohol, gangs and social media with a focus on good decision making. A highlight was a live demonstration of a takedown of a suspect by a police dog, and a hands on tour of one of the police vehicles!

Peewee A2 Team Building

Pee Wee A2 had their second line meal for the team. One line of players and a goalie prepared a healthy meal for their team mates and parents, followed by a visit from our team nutritionist, Lindsay Manion, of Manion Performance. Players had an introduction to a dynamic warm up and had their meal plans reviewed. Judging by the season thus far, the extra investment is reaping rewards in a big way!

Another Fun Team Event by Peewee A2 Sundemons

Today we hosted our first “Line Breakfast” – one line from the team cooks breakfast for the entire team! Pancakes, sausages, fruit, and veggies.... it was delicious!! Parents oversaw the preparation and the boys really enjoyed making and serving the food. We followed the event up by doing our 22 push-up challenge (22 push-ups a day for 22 days) and then we hosted Lindsay from  "Performance Nutrition” for an hour, who came and spoke to our players and parents about good nutrition and recovery after training.

Now it’s time for the regular league play to start, and our boys are raring to go!

PW A2 team event highlight Kris Beech

PW A2 team event highlight Kris Beech

On Monday October 16th, the North Delta PWA2 Sundemons welcomed ex NHL’er Kris Beech to Planet Ice, to deliver an interactive presentation dealing with the psychological side of the game of hockey. Kris spoke about his experiences as an athlete and noted some skills and strategies on how to achieve flow in a game. He spoke about maintaining a positive attitude on and off the ice and how to deal with adversity within the game.

Players were treated to dinner after their on ice practice, and parents were able to observe this terrific team event. It’s not every day that an NHL player can come home to talk about their first hand experiences with the likes of Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin!

Thanks to Head Coach Frank Centanni for coordinating this event….a great way to kick off our 2017-2018 season.
