North Delta Minor Hockey Association is seeking a dynamic, skilled service provider for the position of Director of Hockey Operations. Passion for the sport is paramount, along with a strong desire to build community relations through sport. We are seeking a motivated leader to establish strong development program for our players and foundations for Coaches within our organization.
The successful candidate will communicate with our Coach Coordinator and Senior Executives to establish a development program. The Director of Hockey will be required to make presentations to the Board regarding goal setting and progress within the organization.
This position requires, but is not limited to:
The creation and implementation of a Player Development program.
The implementation of a Coach Development program including classroom and on ice development sessions, mentorship programs and education opportunities
The ability to define and achieve a system of milestones for development reflected by both the coaches’ progress and the players progress through a season.
Development of a unified “language” for all players and coaches which will help progression of children throughout their years in NDMHA.
Provide leadership and support for coaches at all levels
Assist with Rep Evaluations and be present for approximately 40 hours of evaluations during Rep tryouts.
Participate in Coach Selection at both the Rep A and C level
Minimum Development 1 Certified Coach and current Respect in Sport recognized with BC Hockey
Annual Registration with BC Hockey as an Associate Member including all employees and/or sub-contractors
Excellent communication skills
The ability to create rapport with long-standing and new coaches within the organization.
The candidate will have a network of resources to draw from when assistance is required for a specific skill
Innovative thinker who can provide exciting new ideas to assist in coach retention
Willingness to be a part of the NDMHA Hockey Community by participating in association events as time permits.
The successful candidate will:
Provide and facilitate a player development plan of approximately 200 on-ice hours which will include:
Approximately 80 hours per season of on-ice H1-4 development
Approximately 48 hours per season of Atom / Peewee C development programs
Approximately 60 hours per season to Atom and Peewee Rep, Bantam and Midget Divisions (Rep A & C)
Provide a coach development plan which includes on-ice development, off-ice coach nights and evaluations.
Provide approximately 40 hours of rep evaluations.
Provide approximately 36 hours of coach selection.
A service agreement will be signed by both parties for a one to three year time period. The service provider will invoice the Association as set out in the agreement. The service provider will be responsible for all expenses including tools and equipment to carry out the work.
The service agreement will allow for potential additional revenue through summer camps, weekly development sessions and Professional Day development camps. Administration of registration for the sessions will be completed through NDMHA’s registration system.
